2022 NISSAN PATHFINDER SUV
2022 NISSAN PATHFINDER SUV
Posted on May 18, 2021
The Nissan Pathfinder SUV has been a stalwart in the automaker’s range for many years and in fact dates all the way back to 1986 when sport utility vehicles were something of a novelty and didn’t sell in the numbers we see today. The Pathfinder has always shared its basic specification with the Frontier compact pickup truck and this continues for the 2022 series, which is an all-new ground-up design.
Possibly the most important structural change has been a switch from body-on-frame construction to unibody technology. This move will not please off-road fans that prefer that mode of design, but for the greater majority of Pathfinder buyers, it means a more refined and more sophisticated ride – the vehicle is more car-like and comfortable, which is what the vast majority of SUV/crossover buyers are seeking.
Off-road devotees can still buy a body-on-frame SUV from Nissan in the form of its big Armada truck. The new Pathfinder is still very capable off-road and has standard all-wheel drive and a 7-position mode selector to prove it. Modes include standard, sport, eco, snow, sand, mud/rut and tow – something for every eventuality. The rig also offers a towing capacity of 6,000 lbs with available package.
Other 2022 features include a 10.8-inch head-up display, 12.3-inch digital dashboard and standard Nissan Safety Shield that adds numerous safety technologies. It combines considerable rugged strength with great comfort and refinement and should hit the mark in a very competitive market segment. Buyers can rejoice in the fact that there are lots of mid-sized crossover/SUV products out there and most of them can be seen at the Richmond Auto Mall.
The styling presents a rugged, capable, appearance and the new Pathfinder is larger than its predecessor. The interior can be configured for a total of eight seats, so even a large family can be accommodated. The cargo area can accommodate four golf bags and even 4X8 plywood sheets. This new Nissan is very close to being a full-size SUV.
Power is provided in all models by a 284-horsepower 3.5-litre V-6 and the transmission is a nine-speed automatic. Four trim levels are available but the “S” starting point is exceptionally well equipped – including, for example, all-wheel drive and a 10-way power driver’s seat.
The new Pathfinder is destined to arrive at the dealership in the Mall during summer of this year (2021).
