2022 INFINITI QX60 LUXURY SUV

Infiniti has a long history of creating ultra-stylish SUVs and was ahead of most of the pack in the design department many years ago, so the automaker has a reputation to uphold. It seems to have achieved this splendidly with the all-new QX60 for 2022.

Infiniti points to several styling features that have been inspired in various ways by Japanese culture, but the overall result is a very attractive luxury product with a high degree of practicality. Three-row seating will appeal in particular to families, though anyone who needs extra seats now and again will appreciate the convenience. Each row is slightly higher than the one in front, so all passengers get a great view of the road and the sights ahead. Up to seven passengers can be comfortably accommodated.

Cleverly, the designers considered the passengers as well as the driver and the QX60 has interior storage and load capacity to take care of all occupants. The rear area will handle a considerable 1,178-litres of cargo and even the underfloor area, useful for valuables like cameras, takes 54.1-litres.

The 3.5-litre V-6 has plenty of power to take care of a full passenger and luggage load and develops 295-horsepower. Power reaches the road via a 9-speed automatic transmission and an advanced version of Infiniti’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. The QX60 was tested extensively in the worst North American winter conditions so the vehicle should have no problem with Canadian winters.

As you’d expect, the interior has wonderful ambiance, something Infiniti has always been good at. The available quilted leather seats are especially appealing and the high quality and fit of interior trim is immediately noticeable. Connectability and infotainment got special attention from the designers, as befits a truly contemporary SUV. A high-definition 12.3-inch touch screen sits at the heart of things and it was designed to be intuitive and easy to use. As is common nowadays, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both incorporated so the system you favour can be speedily connected. Also on the spec sheet is a head-up display.

The QX60 is a fine mid-sized luxury product that promises to get a lot of attention from Infiniti owners and those who’ve never considered the Nissan luxury nameplate. It’s a highly desirable crossover/SUV made even more attractive by the addition of an extra row of seats.
